A wonderful overview of middleware and enterprise software architecture.

The book provides comprehensive discussions about many emerging challenges and principles related to enterprise software systems. There is a strong emphasis on the role of SOA on web services and data modeling.
I am very interested in the discussions related to DDA and REST architecture and comparisons with different middleware technologies such as SOAP and MOM; their limitations and applicability’s in web development applications. Up to this point I did not have chance to explore all the nitty-gritty details of so many topics addressed in the book, but I plan to do so in the near future.
I highly recommend this book for professionals on software design and architecture specifically in object-oriented web development and enterprise software. The book gives comprehensive discussions of so many related software architectures & technologies, it also provide excellent up-to-date list of references.

About the Author
Shannon and Greg Ethridge, have been married for sixteen years. Shannon is the best-selling author of a dozen books, including Every Woman’s Battle. A speaker, lay counselor, and advocate for sexual integrity, she has been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts, including The 700 Club and Focus on the Family. Greg serves as the CFO for Mercy Ships International and is an avid horticulturalist. The couple lives with their two children in a log cabin in east Texas.

"Must Read" for Those Wanting the Marriage Intended for You

My wife and I have longed for the best possible marriage that God intended for us. We read "Every Man's Marriage" together. This book is a "must read" by couples that have already read "Every Man's Marriage" and want to go to the next step. If you (a married couple) want the marriage that you have dreamed of and that God has promised you, but have not read "Every Man's Marriage" together (probably not the best way to start), the husband should read "Every Man's Marriage" and the wife should read "Every Woman's Marriage" separately (recommended), and then tackle reading both together. Thank you Shannon Ethridge (and hubby Greg) for this incredible book. My wife and I now KNOW that or dream marriage is possible and we are happily working for it! Oh yeah, thanks to Steve Arterburn and Fred Stoeker for "Every Man's Marriage"! Without that book, we never would have picked up Shannon's book.

If you're looking to truly improve yourself and your marriage

Excellent book if your looking to improve yourself. This book helps you examine what YOU can do to improve your marriage, and inspire your husband to want to reconnect with you. But again, YOU have to change, and this book shows you how. It has good Christian principles and lots of scripture to back it up. It really helps you see what you can do to make your marriage blossom.

Very good book, even if you're not a religious person setting the religion aspect side the advice given is well thought out, accurate and really does work. My new outlook has made an immediate impact in my relationship and I'm really thankful for reading this book.

About the Author

Natalie Savage Carlson is fondly remembered as the author of the much-loved Orpheline series and Surprise in the Mountains. Born in Virginia, Ms. Carlson later lived in Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and the Pacific Northwest. She eventually settled in Florida prior to her death.

Garth Williams's classic illustrations for the Little House books caused Laura to remark that she "and her folks live again in these pictures." Garth Williams also illustrated Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and almost one hundred other books.

Wonderful book probably best for around 7-9 year olds to read themselves but thats just a guess

Great book I read in school as a child I got this to add to my homeschool and just story book collection for my son who is 4 now. its not enough pictures to keep him engaged fully yet but we made it 4 chapters in one day before he was done checked out completely-- that was just a kind of test to see if he was ready for it and i know know hes not but i love the story and it paints a vivid picture for a child you also get to explain new things to them some words we just dont use so its a good for vocabulary growth and a classic i would say. My son already is putting the story together and feels sympathy for the children and knows Armand does have a heart etc . Its cute to see father christmas introduced as well since we never call him that around here my son has already learned so much from just one go at it i will be reading it many times until hes able to himself in the future.

Abolitionists, feminists and anti-colonial activists all adopted and innovated the methods of nonviolence. With the advent of the Velvet Revolutions, the end of apartheid in South Africa and, most recently, the Arab Spring, nonviolence has garnered renewed interest in both scholarly publications and the popular imagination. In this book, Dustin Ells Howes traces the intellectual history of freedom as it relates to the concepts and practices of violence and nonviolence. Through a critique and reappraisal of the Western political tradition, Freedom Without Violence constructs a conception of nonviolent freedom. The book argues that cultivating and practicing this brand of freedom is the sine qua non of a vibrant democracy that resists authoritarianism, imperialism and oligarchy.

About the Author
Dr Ellen McGinnis earned her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1986. She holds degrees in elementary education, special education, and school administration. She has taught elementary and secondary students in the public schools in Minnesota, Iowa, and Arizona. In addition, she has served as a special education consultant in both public and hospital schools and as assistant professor of special education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. McGinnis also served with the Des Moines Public Schools as the principal of the education program at Orchard Place, a residential and day treatment facility for children and adolescents with emotional/behavioral disorders. She has been an executive director of student support services in both Iowa and Colorado and is currently a private consultant. The author of numerous articles on identifying and teaching youth with emotional/behavioral disorders, Dr. McGinnis collaborated with Dr. Arnold P. Goldstein on earlier Skillstreaming books and is author of the newly released third editions of Skillstreaming in Early Childhood, Skillstreaming the Elementary School Child, and Skillstreaming the Adolescent.

Great resource, however, lacks engaging activities

I purchased this curriculum with my own money so I read lots of reviews before purchasing. I agree with another user that overall it is adequate and provides helpful worksheets and scenario cards but I often find myself using supplemental activities to engage the students. It is a highly verbal curriculum and, at the elementary level, most of the kids I work with struggle with reading. This is a wonderful resource but lacks more hands-on or kinesthetic to engage young students.

I like the simplistic skill break down of the lessons and the situation practices. I was hoping for more exciting visuals and activities that would capture the interest of elementary school students, but overall it is a useful book that I utilize daily with my individual students and groups.

The first half of the book is devoted to influential works of fiction, as Henderson offers a series of spirited, attentive readings of works by Zora Neale Hurston, Alice Walker, Sherley Anne Williams, Toni Morrison, Gayl Jones, and Nella Larsen. The second half shifts gears to consider the world of female African American performance, most notably in the figures of Josephine Baker and the video dancer. Drawing on the trope of "dancing diaspora," Henderson proposes a model of theorizing based on "performing testimony" and "critical witnessing." Throughout the book, Henderson draws on a history of black women not only in the Pentecostal Holiness Church, but also within the traditions of classical, Christian, African, and black diasporic spirituality and performance. Ultimately, Speaking in Tongues and Dancing Diaspora provides a deeply felt reflection on race and gender and their effects within the discourses of speaker/listener and audience/performer.
